In 2016 the Fisherman's Grotto Restaurant was sold by the Geraldi Family who had operated a restaurant there since 1935. The building itself is quite large for a restaurant so the new owners have been working with the Port of San Francisco to create a new restaurant and fish market experience in the nearly 19,000 square feet of space.
